Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger

Fuckkkk, i missed getting tickets to see Daft Punk (and the rapture, kavinsky, etc) at the Sports Arena. Dayum. But in attempt to find out who was opening for them on tour we discovered their official website, which is fucking confusing. I got as far as seeing that they sell awesome, but equally confusing action figures and that they have a movie coming out called Electroma about themselves as Robots on a quest to become human.

Turns out the action figures come from a full-length japanime film called Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5system, set entirely to the music from the album Discovery.

The story follows the kidnapping of a blue-skinned alien band, who are then brain-washed and reborn as The Crescendolls. Stella is the bassist, Arpegius the guitarist, Baryl the drummer, and Octave the keyboardist/vox.

For rest of the plot read the wikisummary. To watch...look below:

Part 7

"We did not choose to become robots. There was an accident in our studio. We were working on our sampler, and at exactly 9:09 a.m. on September 9, 1999, it exploded. When we regained consciousness, we discovered that we had become robots."

Dear Katy, Susan, Randi, etc

im sorry but Sawyer > Jack

just skip to the 2 min left mark

Kavinsky will eat your brains ...

...and you'll like it.

[from Pitchfork]
The first thing to know about Kavinsky: He's a zombie. Legend says he was killed in a car wreck in 1986, speeding through the back roads of France at over 120 mph in a Ferrari Testarossa before veering off the road and being hurtled through the windshield. Though pronounced dead at a nearby hospital, he quietly got up off his stretcher and left, never to be seen or heard from again...until 2006.

I Want To Break Free

So, lately ive been obsessed with both Michael Jackson and Queen, especially Queen. Freddie Mercury is amazing. Brian May, awesome. I mean, Queen basically accomplished making Uber-Gay Progressive Metal. I recently downloaded a pirated copy of Guitar Pro 5 (and over 30,000 tabs for it) and i am well on my way to mastering the Bohemian Rhapsody solos!

Check out this classical guitar rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody. When i hear it i imagine a medieval court, with a group performing this on mandolins and a jester acting out the lyrics thru humourous interpretive dance.

And here is the video to I Want To Break Free, which is for some reason my favorite Queen song lately:

Freddie is so pretty, no seriously, w/o the mustache and drag hes pretty.

In other masturbatory guitar solo news, the youtube guy who plays the Beat It solo i posted the other day was kind enough to send me the tab for it:

Oh Eddie Van Halen, you and your musical wankery.

Rock Band

Awhile back i remember wishing that Guitar Hero integrated other instruments too, like if it you could add the Sing Star microphones, or Donkey Konga Drums. Now my dream is becoming a reality. Harmonix is working on Rock Band, a game that will come with 4 peripheral contoller options: Bass and lead guitar, a microphone, and drums. Fucking awesome.

"Because there's some serious financial clout behind this little venture, no more cover bands. It's going to feature the real deal. And not just the real deal: some record labels are already planning to release new content ( you know...songs) via this game, rather than radio or the internet.

No word on the individual songs, but we've got some artists: Allman Brothers, Joan Jett, Kansas, Nirvana and Wolfmother. Rigopulos says "We'll be covering a great breadth, from metal to classic rock to Southern rock to everything in between".

The game will be disc-based, but will also feature further downloadable content. And, as an extra treat, it'll feature online play. EA's David DeMartini says 'You could have one guitarist in Germany and another one in Texas, a drummer in New York and a singer from somewhere else, and they can play together online'."

Also, apparently the Gibson Explorer controller for GH on Xbox 360 comes with a port for a yet to be released effects pedal! yes!
