Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: Part 1

I havent been able to bring myself to blog in a long, long time. But now, while im supposed to be writing a 10 page paper, seems like the perfect time.

I've had many an obsession throughout my life. After taking my Psychology GRE ive managed to immerse myself in learning Japanese, cataloging my and my dad's comic book collection, and papercraft.

a crucial comic book find

Papercraft is easily my favorite. It's both an obsession and a compulsion. An obsession to find new free toys to print out and a compulsion to build them immediately. There are numerous websites with hundreds and hundreds of free paper toys that you just print, cut, fold, and sometimes glue.

examples:

here are some of the best/easiest papercrafting sites:
http://www.cubeecraft.com - over a hundred of popular characters, many from video games and cartoons. Also where Obama and Wolfman in the above picture came from
http://harlancore.com/boxpunx - Several series of original, glueless paper toys here including a new collection of x-men figures
http://www.nicebunny.com/downloads/index.php - Also has a couple series of awesome and original toys
Speaker Dogs - This site is coming out with Series 6 of Speakers dogs featuring all Mexican artists
Nani Birds - Adorable Paper Birds
Rommy Paper Toys - Japanese site comes out with a cute new model every 15 days, but watch out, one also expires each time a new one is revealed

[in the next installment of OCD, ill recount my obsessive search for the origins of the above silver stag (w/ boa)]

From Musicophilia by Oliver Sacks:

"The pattern changed when he flew to California in the summer of 1999, for this time the music continued when he got off the plane"

Rules:
* Grab the book nearest you. Right now.
* Turn to page 56.
* Find the fifth sentence.
* Post that sentence along with these instructions in a note to your wall.
* Don't dig for your favorite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.
